WE WON! SME Green Business of the Year at the West London Business Awards!

Here is what the West London Business Awards had to say:

“Snakes and Ladders are a playcentre business that have been bringing joy to generations of children, creating memories for families across the years. They operate three fantastic play centres, each designed to offer the ultimate play experience for children while making life easy for parents. They believe that a great day is about more than just the activities they offer, but also the atmosphere they bring to both the children and parents.

At Snakes & Ladders, their Net-Zero journey began with a clear, led strategy. In 2023, they partnered with Planet A Consultancy to develop a Carbon Reduction Plan, assessing emissions across their three indoor play centres. Using the Climate Essentials carbon footprint calculator, they were able to identify their highest impact areas being their products and services, energy and waste. To tackle these issues, Snakes & Ladders set targeted objectives to reduce emissions:

  • They replaced singly use plastics with Vegware compostable packaging and partnered with Food4Soil to compost food and packaging waste
  • In March 2025, they upgraded solar panels at Syon Park, replacing 400-watt panels with 500-watt bifacial panels
  • Work with Bidfood to make informed procurement decision and participate in SME Climate Hub webinars to refine out long term reduction plan
  • They began to offer a 25p discount for reusable cups and sell Pokito cups and branded bottles to reduce single plastic use .

These efforts have reduced their environmental impact while improve the operational efficiency and customer awareness. By fostering a culture of sustainability and working closely with consultants and suppliers, Snakes & Ladders have turned obstacles into opportunities for growth and innovation.”

Judges comments:

“Snakes and Ladders went through a thorough assessment in which they established a clear strategy and pathway to improve their carbon emissions. This then led to practical action and emissions reductions.”
